BMC students triumph at Melton and Loughborough Community World Cup
by Matthew Anguige - Thursday, 26 August 2010, 03:02 PM

As the football fever reaches an all time high with the world cup in South Africa, BMC students recently took place in two football tournaments on home turf.

Back in May students competed in games held at the Goals centre in Leicester and in June a special tournament organised by the Charnwood Police force was held at Loughborough College.

BMC Football Stars!

The events focussed on disability and fair play, and BMC entered a squad of young sportsmen with learning difficulties, cerebral palsy and visual impairments. The results were fantastic; one team winning all the games at the Goals centre event.

At Loughborough, trophies were presented by Alan Birchinal of Leicester City Football Club and the Charnwood Police Commissioner.

BMC specialise in providing foundation learning for students with a wide range of special needs and learning requirements, offering a wide range of courses aimed at developing vocational and personal skills in areas such as horticulture, animal care and countryside management.

BMC has also just launched a brand new Outdoor Sports Academy, which includes football, golf and the very first national angling academy; keeping 16-19 year old players engaged with both sport and education.

Student Notice - ID Cards
by Matthew Anguige - Tuesday, 25 May 2010, 04:36 PM

To all Students:-

We have had a number of incidents recently where we have needed to identify if someone was a student or not. Some of these situations were made difficult because the students in question were not wearing their student identification. We have also had occasions where young people, who are not students, have been seen around both campuses but when challenged, at the time, said they were on a course here. I now therefore ask that as of 4th May 2010 all students wear their ID badges whilst on the college premises. I have also asked staff, in future, to challenge those that are not wearing badges.

As of the 10th May 2010 you will be asked to show your ID badges when being served in the catering areas and when working in the Learning Centres.

In order to make sure you all have badges, I have asked for an amnesty for those students who have lost their badge, or have yet to get one.

*The amnesty has now expired*.

You will be able to get a replacement badge ‘free of charge’ by going to the IT office on each campus from 10.00am until 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.30pm.

Please can I ask that you follow this simple request in an effort to make our college a safer and more secure environment for us all.
